Subjects & Courses


GCSE Subjects
Students attending the school can expect to achieve an award for each subject taken. The school timetable will comprise of up to eight GCSE subjects and include other subjects such as Citizenship, Physical Education and PHSE to contribute to the development of your child.
Our school is structured to support gifted children who are able to progress through their GCSE course quickly and maybe before they reach their final year. We also offer excellent care for children who require additional support.


Beechwood School offers the following GCSE’s (Subject to minimum numbers):


  • Mathematics (AQA)
  • English  (AQA)
  • ICT (Functional Skills – NCFE)
  • Science (AQA)
  • Art (Entry Level)
  • Business Studies (Short Course – AQA)
  • Citizenship (subject only during form time)
  • PHSE (subject only during form time)
  • Child students aged 11-17 cannot join us for English language only programmes. To join our GCSE courses, International child students are required to present evidence of IELTS (or equivalent) 5.0. If your English is assessed as lower than this you may be eligible for our Functional Skills Programme to include Maths, English and ICT.
    International students aged 16 and above must provide proof that they already have a level of competence in English of at least B1 of the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference) or higher depending on the course.


Beechwood Sixth Form College offers the following qualifications (Subject to minimum numbers):


  • Business Management Certificate Level 3 (IAM)
  • Business Management Diploma Level 4 (IAM)
  • Business Management Diploma Level 5 (IAM)
  • Business Management Diploma Level 6 (IAM)
  • English Language CEFR B2 (NCFE)
